- HayPatch, UT - Happy Cinco De Mayo! In a year where
immigration illegal and otherwise has come under much debate, it
was a good time to celebrate the culture of many of these
immigrants with a little impromptu party full of salsa and good
cheer.
Oh, and not just the adults had fun.
Check out Benjamin in this sweet video!

- HayPatch, UT - Flowers have come gone and others have come to
take their place. Spring filled the HayPatch with plenty of
tulips, daffodils and crocus. Coming quickly on their heels, is
a bumper crop of Iris. Just three of at least ten varieties are
shown above.

- Near HayPatch, UT - Spring bought much rain and mild
temperatures -- perfect weather for digging and more
digging...and even more digging. Ivan has had a really good
year digging in Utah and in Nevada. Digging with his friend
Rick, he's found several outhouse holes in ghost towns that
were thought to have been dug out. While those holes didn't
produce a lot, they had a great time digging. If they could
just figure out how to use sunscreen, they'd be better off.
So far, the best find was a UPRR lock that sold recently on
eBay for over $250.
We've also been digging in the downtown
areas of Salt Lake and Ogden. We found a few good hutch soda
bottles and miscellaneous drugstore bottles too.
All in all, a good year for the thrill of
the hunt! |

- Frisco, UT - Ivan and Catherine made it back to Frisco to see
the cemetery. That was one section of town that the had
missed during their previous visits. What was surprising was
the number of baby graves. Winters were very harsh in this
notorious Utah ghost town. |

- HayPatch, UT - Several weeks ago, Natalie and Steve Gilbert
welcomed their new one, Colton, to the HayPatch. In an
embarrassing situation, the HayPatch staff has not acquired
photos of the wee one although reports have come in stating
that he's one of the most precious babes! Congratulations to
Nat & Steve! |

- Frisco, UT - Also very brief, as these sheep were on the
main page for several months. Much too much exposure, even
if though they're much cuter than Britney Spears. That being
said, they've had an offspring! The cutest little lamb ever.
And that's not journalistic exaggeration. Really. |

- Near HayPatch, UT - Fearing that the desert area known to hold
the famous "Geode bed" was to close, Ivan and Andrea
traveled once again to find the elusive hollow rocks. They
returned with a Jeep full of specimens and fairly decent
sunburns. |

- Near HayPatch, UT - Another major event happened near the
HayPatch that wasn't covered by the HayPatch staff
photographers -- Charles married his sweetheart Eliza on
March 11. The invitation to the wedding was classy, unique
and very stylish and is still being mentioned in all of the
Oakeson circles. Not to be outdone by the invitation, the
reception at the clubhouse at Thanksgiving Point was
understated elegant. The bride and groom looked maaaahvelous!
