May
20, 2003 - HayPatch, UT - Today, after a full day's motor silence,
Ivan got "Ol' Bright Eye" working.
With the assistance of Sam, Sarah and a passing remark from a local
tractor mechanic, Ivan went to the HayPatch 'back 40' to fix the ailing
beast. With a flick of a finger on a hunch over the starter, the engine
roared (and winked too).
Details are sketchy, but Ivan was
nearly run over shortly after the engine started. Reportedly this happened
when he erroneously assisted Sarah in driving "Ol' Bright Eye". "Oh,
the clutch is on *that* side," was overheard. No permanent physical damage
occurred for any party involved.

After the engine had been
repaired, Ivan "disked" the soil with "Bright Eye." He then swapped
the disk mechanism with a pile of garbage tied together reportedly
used to "harrow" the soil. See photographic evidence of said
garbage, above.

After the "harrowing" incident,
Sam jumped aboard "Ol' Bright Eye" and Ivan went surfing -- HayPatch
style. |
